2019 is almost over, our main writer- Thibault Kuten- would like to share how he invested in FY2019 (October 1 2018- 30 September 2019). I will tell you how I managed my money during this turbulent year, and also give some predictions for next year .

But first I need to give you some background, my name is Thibault Kuten, I have been a businessman, entrepreneur and investor for 15 years. I currently have stock holdings worth approximately $3.5 million, consisting of holdings in 6 companies.

What does Thibault Kuten have stock in?

When it comes to what I own- that’s stocks. I am not particularly a fan of Real Estate. Like Warren Buffett, I invest in what I know. My area of expertise is banking and finance. My holdings consist of both major European banks and insurance companies.

One of my holdings is French bank Crédit Agricole. At the time of writing, the share price is € 10.97. This time last year, the stock was riding high on the Bull market, at a price of €12.99. Whilst only being a €2.02 difference, this gives a strong message to investors.

However, all things must come to an end. Whether it was Brexit, Trump or some other In late November, the share price fell, first to €10.97, and then down to €9.44 in late December. However, I stuck with it- in fact, I prepared to buy more shares. But the market didn’t go how I predicted- it went back up again, where I predicted it to keep going down.

Another one of my holdings is Axa Insurance. I quite like this stock as it has shown to be quite stable. At the start of October, the share price was €21.81, now, at the time of writing, the share share price is €23.06. Whilst this may only be a €1.25, this too shows investors the stability of their investment.

However, just like with Crédit Agricole, in late December, the share price went down. The share price fell from €21.81 to €18.98. Like with Crédit Agricole, I stuck with it, knowing that if the price went down any further, it would be incredibly under-valued. However, this did not happen, with the new year came an increase in share price.

Thibault Kuten market predictions FY2020

I do not believe anyone can time the market accurately, not myself, not Warren Buffett, no one. However, I believe that there will either be a recession or market correction in the coming year.

I do not know what will cause this, but I am certain it will either be Trump/Presidential election or Brexit. I do not claim to know the ins and outs of Washington or Downing Street, only that these are uncertain. Uncertainty is dangerous for the market, it only takes one blunder and the house of cards comes crashing down.

I also believe that this will be the best time to invest. Personally, I haven’t bought a stock since 2016. When the recession or market correction comes, I will make sure to capitalize on it. Not only do I plan to expand my current holdings, but I would also like to diversify- namely real estate.

I currently only have investments constituting of stock holdings, I understand that my holdings are sitting on a knife’s edge. Something I do not like. I have had my eye on 18 different properties since 2016, all being snapped up in the current bull market. I keep on doing my research, knowing that one day it will pay off.

I hope that FY2020 will finally be the year I buy my first rental property. Something where I can finally diversify my portfolio. However, I understand that it may not be this year, nor the next, nor the next, however, when the recession hits, I will be prepared. I have saved all I have earned from my businesses and from my investments, I know that it will pay off in the end…

Remember what Warren Buffett said: “When it’s raining gold, go out with a bucket, not with a thimble.”

Remember, if you have the right Mindset, and live like your broke, following habits of other rich people, you will go far.

I hope this article into the investment life of Thibault Kuten in FY2019. Please comment below! What are you doing in FY2020? How did you invest in FY2019? I’d love to know!

Thanks for the insight Thibault!

I hope you finally do get to buy your first property! I can tell you from experience- whilst stocks may be great, real estate is even more rewarding!!!
